Antibacterial properties of thalloid liverworts Marchantia polymorpha L., Conocephalum conicum (L.) Dum. and Pellia endiviifolia (Dicks.) Dumort

The antimicrobial activity of methanol extracts three thalloid liverworts, Marchantia polymorpha, Conocephalum conicum and Pellia endiviifolia bis-bibenzyl marchantin A, the most dominant compound in extract M. have been investigated this research. 1H-NMR spectroscopy revealed that polymorpha P. liverwort contain terpenes, oils, sugars bis-bibenzyls, while these specific macrocyclic compounds were absent C. extract. potential was tested on eight bacterial strains. Antimicrobial effects A observed against Gram-positive bacteria, they showed no effect Gram-negative bacteria both methods used ? well diffusion broth microdilution.
